Insight Off The Beaten Track Wildflowers Restaurant

At Insight Hospitality we are always on the lookout for exciting products, suppliers, Artisan companies and offering our support to local businesses

Our journey this week takes us to recently opened Wildflowers Restaurant in Pimlico.

Located in Newson’s Yard, just behind Pimlico Road.

Chef Aaron Potter and partner interior stylist Laura Hart have opened Wildflowers a neighbourhood restaurant and wine bar, inspired by its Mediterranean food and decor.

Aaron previously Head Chef of Trinity and Elysian Street is bringing seasonal, high-quality ingredients to life through cooking on a large cast iron charcoal grill.

The restaurant feels homely, a marble topped chefs counter holding a selection of crockery and cookery books. Pale wood and marble continuing the theme.

Staff are friendly, efficient and extremely knowledgeable, recommending dishes which by the way they divulge the ingredients you know training has been extensive.

Upstairs, a wine bar offers a handpicked selection of European wines and spritzes, paired with cicchetti-style bar snacks, a perfect space to relax.

Moules Farcies, Garlic & Parsley Butter

Beautiful lightly steamed mussels topped with a garlic and parsley butter, what could be simpler, classic flavours devoured so quickly we could easily have eaten another portion.

Gnocco Fritto, Gorgonzola, Coppa, Truffle Honey

A crisp fried pastry parcel filled with gorgonzola, topped with coppa and finished with a drizzle of truffle honey was crisp, melt in the mouth, oozing with the molten cheese and so full of flavour.

Sugar Pit Pork Rack, Quince, Almond & Gremolata

A generous portion of sugar pit pork, cooked over coals, caramelised fat, beautifully cooked, served with its juices, sweet candied quince, and with a sharp contrasting gremolata.

The flavour and perfect cooking stood out, I would go back for this dish alone.

Wildflowers has hit the ground running, laidback refined cooking allowing the ingredients to do the talking.

A charming neighbourhood restaurant slightly hidden in a former timber courtyard, just behind Pimlico road.

An exclusive private dining room is available accommodating up to 12 guests.
