Insight Off The Beaten Track Sea Palace

At Insight Hospitality we are always on the lookout for exciting products, suppliers, Artisan companies and offering our support to local businesses.

Our journey this week takes us a little further afield to Sea Palace Restaurant, Amsterdam

Sea Palace is known for being the largest floating restaurant in Europe and the first of its kind outside of Hong Kong,  just a few minutes from Amsterdam Central Station.

Serving an extensive menu of Cantonese cuisine in a unique setting.

The level of detail in the decor is extraordinary it feels as if you are in a Ming dynasty palace.

Advanced booking is essential to guarantee a table, or you can sit and hope for a cancellation to the side of the restaurant.

Kong Tsing Ngau Yuk (Beef Dumpling)

The dim sum menu is a great way to share lots of small dishes and get a good impression of the extensive cuisine.

It is served when ready as they have been doing in China for centuries.

The beef dumplings were light, moist and well flavoured with a hint of chilli and spring onion.

Tsa Sui Kau  (Prawn Wonton)

Wonton prawns had a juicy whole prawn encased in a very crisp envelope of wonton paste.

Sat on a small salad of finely shredded white cabbage, carrot and spring onion.

Served with a sweet chilli sauce.

Koe Loo Yu (Monkfish Fillet in Sweet and Sour Sauce)

A generous portion of crispy battered monkfish, in a well-balanced sauce with peppers, onion and pineapple.

We had an additional side of Singapore noodles which complimented the monkfish and was again well flavoured and enough for two.
